I keep debating on whether or not to keep this up. I post so seldom anymore. I like to share stuff but there are so many other sites where I share things that my blog has been neglected. And now with facebook it's so much easier to keep connected. I have more friends on facebook than I have who read my blog. So I think I'm going to call it quits. As for my SVG files, I haven't made any in a while as I have tons that I have not even used. If I happen to make a new one I will post them. I'm still around if you have any questions and if you aren't already friends with me on facebook - please add me! :D

Isn't that sweet?!? My swirly sister Jan gave me this award. I'm thrilled but also a little shocked since I'm so bad at keeping this thing up. So I guess there are some rules I need to follow.

1. Give a list of ten things that make me happy.

2. A trivia of five things about me.

So, here goes:

I have a lot to catch up on and of course I don't know where to start. Instead of going through all the junk I'll just get to the good stuff.

Here is what I have done since my last post:

Not a lot but that's ok. I've been messing with SVG's lately. They can get addicting. I'm also leaving for a Scrap retreat this coming Thursday so I'm really excited. I'm already all packed (scrappy stuff anyway). I knew I'd be busy this week so I wanted to get it done and out of the way. I'll be gone Thursday - Sunday. Let me tell you, I need the break. It will be so fun to hang out with my friends and just scrap. No worries about anything! Whoo hoo!

Ok back to the SVG's. I have not test cut a lot of these but they should work. I made them from free digital brushes for photoshop that I found on the web. If you have any problems - shoot me an email and I will see what I can do to fix it.

Well that's about it for now. Hope you enjoy the files. Let me know what you think of them and if you use them I'd sure like to see.

I've tried and tried to be good and keep this thing updated and it never works. I've said it before and I'll say it again, my life just isn't that interesting. I think I may try to do short little posts and not worry about having pictures to put in it. I think that's what keeps me from posting - I feel like I need to have some kind of picture in my posts and something interesting to say. Maybe I can try to overcome that.

I'm not going to bore you with details and try to catch up again. Nothing exciting happened or I would have posted it -hahahaha. Seriously, just the normal every day stuff. Not much going on now either. Since the weather has been mild here lately and we haven't gotten any snow except the mountains, we went searching for some on Valentine's day. We found a little bit but there was really no where for the kids to play. Kind of sucked. It was a nice day though and I did get a few pictures.

Here is what I got from Pete for Valentines:

Purty isn't it? I was really shocked that he remembered at all. He had just come home the day before from California (his grandmother passed away - such a sweet lady - she will be missed) and I know his mind wasn't on Valentine's day but he fooled me.

I made Tyler's class some paper mailboxes and put little candies in them. I also decorated those $1 mailboxes from Target for his teachers again this year. They loved them.

I was pretty happy with the way they turned out too. Simple but cute.

And of course I did some scrapping. Here's what I've done lately:

I'm really happy with the direction my scrapping is going in now. I've been wanting to do more and try more and I've been doing that lately. My tastes have changed a lot in what I buy now too. A lot of it has to do with the kit club I joined a while back - Swirlydoos. It is awesome! I'm loving everything from that club. I still enjoy Simply Obsessed although I must admit I don't hang out there much anymore. Not that I don't want to but there's just not enough time in the day. And I probably won't be renewing my subscription either, sad to say. I need to pick one club and I'm really liking Swirlydoos. Lately SO just hasn't had the papers that inspire me much anymore. They're great and Heather is awesome. It's just not the stuff I'd pick out myself anymore unfortunately. I will stay in touch with the girls - thanks to facebook and maybe at some time I'll go back.

Since I'm on the subject of scrapping (I know when am I not?) I get to go to another retreat this year! In April! Woot! Woot! Lori is putting on another Eat, Nap, Scrap retreat at Ft. Flagler and Sarah and I are going again. Last year was my first retreat ever and I loved it! Couldn't wait for her to have another one. So as soon as she sent out the email for the one in April, I marked my calendar, made arrangements with Pete and my mom and paid my fees. Did I mention I can't wait!! Should be a lot of fun.

Ok I'm going to end this now before I start rambling some more and it gets too long and you won't want to read it (see there I go rambling....). Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. And I'd say write again soon but ha - who am I kidding? We'll just have to see what happens.....

It's been a long time

Here I went and did it again. I let this thing go for too long and now I don't even know where to begin. Not a lot to catch up on though. Still deciding if that is a good or bad thing, hmmmm.... We had a nice Thanksgiving and I think the kids really enjoyed their Christmas. I won't bore you with pictures of all of it since there are a lot. I guess I just wanted to let everyone know that I haven't dropped off the face of the earth just haven't been logging onto facebook much or updating this blog obviously. Not sure why, just haven't had the desire to do so. I get so wrapped up in scrapbook sites that time flies and before I know it I don't have time to do anything else (computer related that is) with the exception of work. Ugh! That four letter word.

Anyway, the kids are doing great. I'm still fighting Kaylie with the potty training - well not fighting but she is so darn stubborn! I can't imagine where she gets it from either ;) One of these days we'll get it though. I'm so tired of the diaper thing already.

I'm still making SVG's but I didn't get anything ready to share this time. I so need to find a better way to organize these things. I have so many!! I also found a new program that looks to be a pretty good competitor to SCAL. It's called Make the Cut
and I have to say it is pretty awesome. Much more user friendly too. One thing I love about it too is that they have a gallery that you can link to right from the program where you can share and download svg's or mct files.

I had so many favorites from the old time photos I had done of the kids that I got a bunch! Here are a couple of the ones I liked the most - and of course I had to scrap them!

And here is one I did of me and my brother (my first Christmas). I'm really happy with how it turned out even though the pictures aren't great (they were scanned from slides).
That's about it for now. I'd say with the new year and all I'd keep this up better but I know me ;) Maybe I'll surprise myself.

Lots of Stuff

To catch up on. I know I've really let this go again and I apologize. Between all that has been happening, feeling guilty for spending too much time on the computer (another post altogether) and sick kids, I've been a little busy. I did accomplish a lot in the mean time though.

Tyler got his school pictures back. They turned out cute but he did that funky smile again. He so tries not to squint with the flash (like his momma does ) so I end up with this smile:

I still think it's an adorable picture but I'm a little biased though.

We did get to take our trip to the pumpkin patch but it was a bust. It didn't rain that day but it did the week before and the place was pretty flooded. I did get a few cute pictures. I love this one of the hayride:

All in all we had a pretty fun day and got some pretty good pumpkins.

Then we celebrated Kaylie's birthday on the 30th instead of the 31st. I decided it would be wiser not to mix birthday cake and Halloween candy in one day. I think she had fun - she liked the cake anyway:

That's what I get for going next door to my mom's to wrap her gifts and leave Pete in charge of watching the kids!
Halloween was a lot of fun. We went to Cindy and Brent's for a BBQ and some trick or treating on base. The kids looked so cute and had a lot of fun. This was Tyler's first year of traditional trick or treating. We usually took the kids to the mall where they could trick or treat from store to store. It's a warm safe place and normally it's raining here on Halloween. We lucked out this year. We sure are going to miss The Deerings when they move to Guam next year.
I have some more pictures of the kids that I'm dying to post but I can't right now as they are going to be Christmas gifts for some of the family. Let's just say we did the Antiquities photo shoot and they turned out adorable!!

Ok now for the creations. I made these cute things for Tyler's class:

They went over really well. The kids loved them and I think the teacher loved them even more. I had fun making them too.

Here I did an 8x8 canvas of my Grandparents (my mom's mom and dad). It was the first time I've done one. It was fun. I have a 12 x 12 I want to do next.

And a layout I did a little while ago but hadn't posted here yet. I'm really happy with the way it turned out.

Here are some notebooks I altered for MOPS. We are putting together baskets for teen moms in our area. We will be putting words of wisdom and encouragement for them in them. I thought they looked kind of plain but everyone seemed to like how they turned out.
And now what a lot of you have really been waiting for. Yes, I did do some svg files. I have not cut these yet but they should work. Let me know if you have any problems with them. Click on the picture to download.

I dropped the ball....

sorry about that. I've been doing so well keeping this updated and then boom - I dropped the ball. In my defense though, Pete has been gone the last 2 weeks and I had to be a 'single mom' for a bit. It wasn't too bad though but I did let some things go. I did get a lot of svg's made but I haven't cut any. I'll post a few of them at the end with a link. I'd post them all but there are just way too many so I'll give them away a little at a time. Besides, I need some way to get you all back here to read this

As I said, Pete had been gone for 2 weeks for work but he made it home safe and sound Friday night. And....drum roll please.....he passed his last test with a 95! Woot woot! So proud of him. On top of that, he doesn't have to go back anymore - yippee!!! He's all done and is now a Journeyman Signalman/Maintainer. So glad it's all over.

Unfortunately I haven't gotten any new layouts done but I am working on some cute treat cups I'm making for Tyler's class for Halloween. I should have them done soon so I will post a picture of them. I'm pretty happy with the way they are turning out. I've also started a layout with some pictures that Pete took of the kids today. They turned out adorable! It was a perfect day for some fall pictures with the exception of not too many leaves You can see the pictures he took by going here - the top 3 rows are the ones he took today.

Hoping to go to the pumpkin patch soon - love the photo ops there and taking the kids is a lot of fun.

I have an appt this weekend for the kids to have old time photos done. MOPS is doing a fund raiser with a photo place called Antiquities and this is what we will be doing. I'm excited. I missed it last year as I did not join MOPS until around December. Can't wait to see how they turn out.

We also have to squeeze Kaylie's birthday party in there somewhere. I'm debating on whether or not to do it on her actual birthday or not. I think if I wait and do it the same day it may be too much to have a party and then go trick or treating. So I'm thinking of doing it either the night before or the weekend before. We'll have to see how it works out.

I also wanted to take them to the Zoo Boo but it doesn't look like we will be able to fit that in too. Have to play it by ear. Lots going on this month!

Oh and I'm hoping to get family pictures done soon. NOT this month but hopefully next. We're going to try out JcPenney and see how they are. I really liked the ones we did last year at The Picture People. And I loved having them same day but JcPenney is closer and I've heard good things about them too so we'll see.

Layouts and leftovers

Ok not really leftovers but it was a catchy title don't ya think?

It's been a pretty busy week for me. I had to prepare for MOPS and get my responsibilities for that done. I had to work my 5 hours each day (which I still have time to make up - will do that after I post this) and had to gets things ready for Pete to leave today for his 2 weeks of school. Thank goodness this is his last session and won't have to go back anymore! Woot woot!

I'm kinda shocked that I got a layout done and some SVG files. I haven't been able to test cut them yet though. I will post them anyway with the disclaimer that there is the possibility they will not work and I'll have to fix them. They should work but I'm not making any promises.

Here is the layout I did. It is of my dad when he was around 12 (he's 78 now!) and his brother (who passed away in 2007). I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. And so proud of myself that I didn't use a sketch. Normally I can't scrap without at least starting with one but this one just kind of came together by itself.

And here are the SVG files that I have made.

First of all I want to say thanks to everyone for the nice comments and just being so darn friendly. It really made my day to see that you all liked the cuts as much as I do.

I am currently working on some more cuts but it probably won't be until this weekend or so before I can get them posted. I did do a few today that I will post but I don't feel they are as cute as the first set I posted. Don't get me wrong, I like them and I think they'll look cute especially when used by a lot of you talented ladies, they just aren't as fancy I guess you'd say. I do have some more fancy ones in the works though.

So without further ado - since I know that's the real reason you are here

Again, just click on the picture to get the file. Oh a little note about the butterfly cut - it's not cutting the circles for the flowers too well, not sure if I know how to fix that yet. So in the mean time I just used a hole punch and it worked fine.

SCAL Crazy!!

I've had a new addiction lately and that is seeing what images I can convert to SVG to cut with Sure Cuts A Lot and my cricut. I've had so much fun doing this and had a lot of people asking me how I did it and where I found the images, etc. Well I just did a google search for the type of thing I was looking for ie. flourish and then found the images I wanted. After that I used Inkscape (a free program that Sure Cuts A Lot recommends) and went to town. I had a lot of trial and error and some pictures just don't convert well. Especially the low resolution images you get off the net at times. I really enjoyed doing these and seeing what I could make. I still have a lot more that I haven't cut yet but I thought I'd be sweet and share the ones I have made so far.
If you'd like any of these cuts in these pictures just click on the picture and you will be able to download them yourself. I will be working on some more so hopefully I can have those up soon. Oh and I hear that SVG files are used for the silhouette so if you have that you can use these files too. Oh and I've included pictures of the cuts in the files too so you can see what they are. I only ask one favor if you download - please leave me a comment. I'd love to know who is downloading them. Also, I'd love to see your creations with them as well!

***ETA: some of these cuts are not 'perfect cuts'. They are still really pretty though and look great. However if you're looking for exact then you may not want to download them. I can only make them as good as the picture I can find.

Lookie what I've been doing...

Recently I've joined a great new kit club called Swirlydoos and I'm lovin' it! (No I haven't replaced Simply Obsessed - I'm still with them and love them too!) I've learned a lot of new things from there and a few on my own. For one I have learned how to make 'faux' bling. You know the prima bling we all love to buy but is so darn expensive. Well here's my take on it:

I do need to practice a bit more but I think they are turning out pretty good. I bought some liquid pearls to do it with but found out in the long run puffy paint is cheaper and works better.

I've also recently purchased SCAL (sure cuts a lot) for the cricut and have had a blast finding images on line to make SVG files out of to cut. Here are a few of the things I've done with that:

I have to say I have fallen in love with this program. It is awesome. There are endless possibilities of what you can cut.

And oh yes I have made a new layout with the new kit I'm getting. I have another one in my head I'm going to do but I've gotten side tracked reading 'The Time Traveler's Wife' - I haven't gotten that far but just by what I've read so far I know I'm going to love the movie. Ok, sorry, back on topic. Here's the layout:

In other news, I had my first MOPS meeting of the year last Friday. I believe it went pretty well. I'm terrible at getting up in front of people and talking but I did ok. Whew! Now I can sit in a group, even a large group and talk to everyone at one time, no problem. But get me up in front of the crowd - well let's just say it's not that pretty All in all though it was a fun morning and it went pretty smoothly.

That's about it that I can think of for now. I'm sure there's more but I'm tired and want to get back to my book!

Creative Techs

If you ever wanted to learn flash, dreamweaver, photoshop, lightroom or even more on digital photography then you NEED to check these guys out. They are offering all these courses for FREE! Yes I said FREE! And if you can't make it to the webinar when they hold them then you can watch the videos for a week after the class has been done. It's awesome. They are only into the second week of classes so you still have time. I signed up for photoshop, lightroom and the digital photography. I know it's a lot but like I said, I have a week to view the videos if I miss the class. I'm really excited about doing these. I can't wait to learn more.

And in case you are wondering, no I'm not getting anything out of blogging about this. They ask everyone to spread it by word of mouth to keep it a free service but I'm doing it not only for that but because I think it's so cool. Plus they are based out of Seattle!

Oh and there is also the option if you want to learn at your own pace you can buy the courses where you'll be able to download the videos to your computer and they have extras with that too.

Alrighty I'm done praising them for now. I'll keep you posted on how my classes are going.

Good News/Bad News

I'll start with the bad news-

I lost my Mac. It was scrapped. They said it would cost more to replace the part than to just give me a new computer. So I ended up losing everything. At least I backed up all my pictures but I can't say the same for the rest of my stuff. Not really that big of a deal, I just had a lot of digital scrap kits I wanted to keep and things like that. Oh well, I've learned my lesson and now have an Apple Time Capsule hooked up to all the computers here.

Good news -

The replacement I got rocks! Best Buy didn't have anything comparable to my other one in stock so I got an upgrade. I went from a 20 inch to a 24 inch monitor and double the hard drive. I even get a free upgrade to Snow Leopard (the new Mac operating system) when they get in stock (which I just learned tonight they have it so I will be going to pick it up tomorrow!) If your curious this is the one I got.

In other good news -

I'm on the steering team for MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers). I am in charge of Hospitality. I'm excited and overwhelmed at the same time. It's going to be a lot of work but it will be worth it. I love going to MOPS and so does Kaylie and now I get to be involved (more). The down side is that I won't be able to volunteer much in Tylers' class this year. He says he's ok with it though. I will still be on with the PTA and for special occasions. I don't think his teacher is the type that really likes parents to volunteer much either - at least that's the impression I got. We'll see after the school year gets going.

I had some other things I was going to write but I can't seem to remember what they were. I really have to start writing things down more. Hey at least I'm doing better with my blog! Go me!

First Day of School

So today was the first day of school for Tyler. Yes I took pictures. They turned out pretty cute too. Tyler had an awesome first day - his words too! Kaylie on the other hand had a hard time with her brother being gone. Thank goodness it was only a half day - not sure what she's going to do on the full days!

Now I know she's smiling here but she really wasn't happy after we dropped him off. All in all it was a really good day. Let's hope the rest of the week goes as well!

Crop layouts and more

Well I finally took pictures of the pages I did at the crop on the 22nd. As I said before, for some reason I'm just not as happy with the ones I do at crops as the ones I get done at home. I'm sure it's probably because I take a lot more time at home. They aren't bad just different.

I did a 5th one but it's not finished. Not sure if I like the papers I picked. I may have to re do it, we'll see.

Birthday, TV and Trains...

It's been a full weekend already and I'm hoping to rest and maybe scrap on Sunday. Speaking of which I still need to take pictures of my pages that I did at the crop last week - ugh! I will get them posted (eventually).

So here's a run down on what's been going on this weekend. Ours started on Thursday which was Tyler's 8th birthday. Yes I said 8! I can't believe he is getting so big. He officially does not have to use a car seat now either. I have mixed emotions about that. To celebrate we took him and his friend Caitlin to the Kitsap fair. It runs every year at the same time as his birthday. Makes it kind of convenient for us. No big parties or anything. He just picks a friend and we pay their way into the fair and for the rides. We got them all day passes for the rides and they had a blast. Kaylie even wanted to ride them and she was tall enough for most so we got her an all day pass too. Bonus - kids day was Thursday so the kids got in free! You can check out the birthday pics here. They are the first 85 pics (yes I said 85). I know a little overboard but with them I have to take that many to get maybe 10 good ones! After the fair we came back to the house with Caitlin and her mom and dad, Brent and Cindy, who happen to be good friends of ours. We had pizza and then some cake. And I just realized while typing this that I bought ice cream to go with the cake but totally forgot to serve it! Hahaha - leave it to me!

Friday was kind of mellow. We hung out at home and I had to work. Pete washed his truck of course and then headed to Walmart to get a wall mount for the new TV we bought (well new to us). We got a 42 inch flat screen plasma from Brent and Cindy. It's in perfect condition and they were really generous with everything. They even came over that night and helped hook it all up in our room. Thanks guys! I really like it and so does Pete. I'll have to take some pictures of that and post them too.

Today was the open house for Tacoma Rail so we went to that. We try to go every year. Tyler really enjoys it and this year Kaylie did too. She is so into trains now like her dad and brother it's funny. They have a lot of fun stuff there for kids. Clowns that make animal balloons, rides on the train, model railroads, face painting and you can tour a real engine. We had a great day. Here are the pictures from our outing. I had my little camera today and I'm not happy with a lot of these but at least I got some pictures.

So that's about it and I'm exhausted. I was going to scrap today when we got home but I was just too tired. I thought I should update this first anyway or it would get neglected again. I'm really trying to make an effort to keep this current. So far, pretty good....

Another post in the same month! I'm on a roll. Now maybe I can keep this up. Ok I know, I'm getting ahead of myself.

Weekend in review:
Friday - not much, just worked. Pete went to get something stereo related done on his truck and his 'only be an hour or so' turned into an ALL DAY event. That shouldn't have surprised me though. It always works out that way.

Saturday - went to an all day crop with my friend Sarah. It was great. First time I stayed the whole entire time (9am - 9pm). I got 4 and a half pages done - which was good for me. I'm a slow scrapper. I'll post pictures as soon as I take them. I'm not as happy with them as I am with the ones I do at home. Maybe it's because I feel like I have to get a lot done when I'm gone so I rush.
I also won 3 door prizes - woot woot! Cool scrappy stuff. Sarah won a couple too and the big door prize - lucky her.

Sunday - went shopping for Tyler's birthday on Thursday. My baby is going to be 8 already! I can't believe he is getting so big. He won't even need a car seat anymore. :(

Today - worked and then had my yearly doctors visit. Everything went fine, now I just have to wait and see if I get a phone call or a letter in the mail. Hoping for the letter in the mail....

My Mac is STILL in the shop. Not even sure if they are working on it. They say they are but they also told me they shipped it a week before they actually did. So not liking Best Buy right now. I have never had any issues with them before now. This is ridiculous. I'm hoping that they don't need to do anything drastic and I can keep my hard drive. I hate waiting...

So I think I'm officially all moved over here. I liked type pad for the time I had it but it just not worth the cost for me anymore. Maybe if I blogged everyday. I never used it to it's full potential either. For as much as I blog (hahaha) I will stick with free for the time being. It's also nice that I've learned how to make my own backgrounds and all the neat stuff on here. So far I like it. I may tweak it again later but for now it's all good.

Now for news around here. Not much. I'm going to an all day crop tomorrow with my friend Sarah and I'm excited about that. I'll be posting my creations here. Hopefully I can get a lot done. It'll be fun just to go even if I don't.

Right now I can't seem to think of anything to say. I know those of you that know me personally are probably shocked ;) So I'm going to end this post and hopefully post again sooner rather than later. Let me know what you think of what I've done here. I'd like to know what you think.
